About this site

Firstly I want to point out that this is not a commercial web site. It has been put together and is maintained by one person (namely the adorable me), and as such it is updated, and user dynamic pages are modified, as and when I get time. The reason I start off by stating this is that I get 100's of emails weekly from people asking me questions about being gay, the London scene and even things like " I placed a personal ad 4 hours ago and it is not on the web site yet. WHY?".

The answer to the last one is simple, I view all ads before they go live on my site and if they are considered suitable I activate them, but as my full time job takes up 12 hours of each day, I can't do this until I get home. It's simple really :-)

The site has many features that are usually found on commercial sites and these features cost time and money to implement. I however do not ask people to pay to pay to use these features, nor do I have thousands of banners on the site to make money from.

Banners and advertising

As this site aims to be informational and fun to use and for gay men and woman living in, and visiting our great city, I am more than happy to place banners and links to sites that may be of interest to these people. This also helps get more exposure for this site with a link back to gaylondon.

I do not however have any links to porn or pay to view sites, as I believe the net should be free to view and there is more than enough spamming for this sort of thing on other gay sites. You may however find exceptions to this in our search engine, where YOU make the choice of sites to look for, but we don't force these sites on you while browsing our pages.

Look of site

I am often asked why gaylondon has such a great lack of images. The reason is, I want a site that loads fast in your browser window. Nice flashy images are great but if your looking for a pub in east London, is there really any need to slow things down with loads of lovely pics when all you want to know is the address of a venue?

Where images are beneficial or indeed essential (our escort section is a fine example), you will find all the images you need.
